Spiced Nuts
My sister makes the most lovely spiced nuts: best fresh out of the oven, her spice blend is warm, subtly sweet, and just a touch spicy. Use whatever nuts you have on hand. My favorites are pecans, almonds, and cashews.
Spiced Nuts
Ingredients:
3 cups unroasted, raw nuts (almonds, cashews, pecans... whatever you'd like!)
1/2 tsp cumin
1/2 tsp paprika
1/2 tsp sea salt
1/2 tsp cayenne
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp cinnamon
dusting of cloves, nutmeg, cardamom
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp sugar dissolved in 1 tsp water
Instructions:
1. Line a baking tray with a silpat or parchment paper. Preheat oven to 350F.
2. Add nuts to a bowl and coat with olive oil and sugar water.
3. Add all spices and mix until evenly coated.
4. Spread nuts on a tray and bake for 12-15 minutes, shaking at 8 minutes.
5. The nuts will need to cool and harden for about 20-30 minutes before they are ready to eat. Otherwise, they won't be crunchy!
