Hanging Sloth Buns

You can't help but smile at this recipe! These adorable sloths are pretty simple to make and look absolutely adorable upon completion. They taste pretty good too, if you can stand to devour such a cute snack. Their bodies are made from a simple milk bread dough, while their faces are a basic sugar cookie, decorated with melted chocolate.

Hanging Sloth Buns
Makes 5 buns

Ingredients:

for the bread:
200g all-purpose flour
20g granulated sugar
1/2 tsp salt (3g)
1 tsp yeast (3g)
1 egg yolk
120g water or milk, lukewarm
20g butter

for the cookie:
25g unsalted butter, softened
15g sugar
1 tsp milk
40g all-purpose flour

Instructions:
To make the bread:
1. Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water or milk, then add in egg yolk. Add wet ingredients to flour, sugar and salt. Knead for about 15 minutes, or until dough is smooth and bounces back when a finger is pressed into it.

2. Knead softened butter into dough until dough is smooth again, around 5-10 minutes.

3. Let rise for about 1 hour, or until dough doubles in size.

While the dough is resting, prepare cookie dough:
1. Cream together butter and sugar until fluffy, then add milk and flour and knead until dough is smooth.

2. Place in fridge until firm, around 15-30 minutes.

3. Roll the dough out to ~1/8 inch and cut 1.5 inch circles. Cut a triangle in the circle to form a heart shape.

4. Return to fridge.

Assemble:
1. Split proved dough into 6 sections. Set aside one section (this will be used to form limbs.)

2. Halve each of sections into two equal balls, and place side-by-side on baking tray.

3. Divide the remaining section into 10 arms/legs, two for each sloth (as pictured above). Attach limbs to sloths.

4. Let rest until doubled once more, 30-60 minutes. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

5. Bake for 5 minutes. Remove, and add cookie dough face to each sloth. Bake for 15 additional minutes.

6. (optional) Decorate the sloth's faces with melted chocolate, and enjoy!
